If you can give a dog a home then ring 01261 815373 or email us barrk1@hotmail.co.uk

Barrk is staffed by volunteers and therefore there maybe no one in the office as we could be out seeing to dog welfare issues, please be prepared to leave a clear message giving your name and contact details and someone will get back to you.

Minimum donation to adopt a dog is £75

To Be Homed

MILLER

A 7 year Labrador X spaniel, he is neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. Miller is up for adoption through no fault of his own, a combination of difficult circumstances have forced his owners to make the heartbreaking decision to put him up for adoption. Miller has been in a home with children and another dog (not experienced cats), he is a very lively lad with a winning personality. He can pull a bit on leash but walks well off lead he responds well to basic commands. He would be best suited to a home where someone is around most of the day, he is good around kids, but not to young as he gets a bit excited and could easily knock over a small child. Miller loves attention and thrives on play and interaction.

If you would like to know more about him or any of the dogs in Barrk please telephone 01261 815373 if we are not in the office please leave a message and we will get back to you or drop us an email at barrk1@hotmail.co.uk

DECLAN

DECLAN 15 month German Shepherd, not neutered ( but this will be funded by the BARRK neutering programme) not currently vaccinated or micro chipped. Declan is still very much the "puppy" although he is pretty good at all the basics, he is fairly good on lead and his recall is improving. He is a much loved family pet but difficult circumstances mean that Declan is very reluctantly up for adoption. He will remain with his current owners until an approved BARRK home is found. Declan has not lived in a home with children or other pets. He would be best suited to a home where someone is around most of the day to see to his on going training and to give him all the attention a young dog needs.

If you feel you can give him that forever home please ring B.A.R.R.K. on 01261 815373 or email barrk1@hotmail.co.uk giving contact details.

BAILEY

A 3 1/2 year yellow Labrador, vaccinated and neutered, Bailey is best suited to a home with older children and where some one is around most of the day, he doesn't do cats and has not been around young children, he is a lovely well settled dog, he walks well on lead and responds to all the basic commands, he will make a fantastic family pet.

If you feel you can give him that forever home please ring B.A.R.R.K. on 01261 815373 or email barrk1@hotmail.co.uk giving contact details.

MAX

Max. 3 year Labrador, vaccinations in progress, micro chipped, not neutered ( but will be funded by the Barrk neutering programme) Max has always lived in his kennel as an outdoor dog because one of the children in the home had an allergy, this meant they where able to give Max all the love and attention of " house dog " without him actually being in the home. He has been very well cared for, he responds well to all the basic commands, he is not good on lead ( so some work needed there). He has lived in a very rural location so he will need to be introduced to "the world", however since he arrived into the care of BARRK he has coped very well with all the changes in his life, he is a smashing dog.

If you feel you can give him that forever home please ring B.A.R.R.K. on 01261 815373 or email barrk1@hotmail.co.uk giving contact details.

Success Stories

ALFIE

We've had Alfie for almost three months now and he's settling in brilliantly as part of the family. We had some barking issues at night for the first couple of weeks but he's much happier now and only starts whining at 6 when he hears our alarm going off and he's desperate for a pee! Long lies are a thing of the past but we both really enjoy our
early morning walks before work when there is no one around but us and lots of sleepy rabbits to chase.
He loves going to the beach and trying to catch seagulls, he'll even swim after them if they try and escape into the water. He's great friends with our brother's Labradoodle
and they even go to training classes together. So far we've mastered sit, down, stay, chase your tail and a bit of recall (providing I'm the most exciting thing around!) we can also now walk with a loose lead and no pulling, took time and patience but we got there.
Once we've finished the introductory block we'll go on to do our good citizen and then hopefully some agility or flyball. Alfie loves coming everywhere with us and we've even been camping, he loved cosying in beside us in the tent and we appreciated the extra warmth (Lossiemouth in July isn't as warm as you'd think).

Thank you so much for letting us adopt him, he's come so far from his very bouncy days in the kennels and we couldn't imagine life without him.

BROGAN

Just wanted to give you an update. We adopted Brogan nearly four years ago now. When we got him he was really just a (big!) puppy. After initial teething problems (literally ? where he ate our new lino!) he settled in well. He is such a lovely dog with a fantastic nature and has fitted into our family life with ease. He goes everywhere with us, including holidays to Orkney! Although he's big he thinks of himself as a lap dog and likes nothing better than to hop up on the sofa beside us and get as much bodily contact as possible. Thank you so much for letting us have him, he's a joy to own and an integral part of our family.

RUSTY

We re homed Rusty through you almost 5 1/2 years ago. He was only 8 1/2 months old when he came to us and although it has taken a bit of time he is now a reasonably well behaved and much loved member of our family!

He is brilliant coming back to us when he is being walked off the lead and gets extremely excited when he knows he is going for a walk! He can be a bit neurotic but he is very loving and loves to cuddle in to us. His favourite position is fast asleep with his back paws on the ground being cuddled. Our daughter Emma has trained him to go over jumps which he loves and we couldn't imagine life without him!
He gets very excited when he gets to chase rabbits and deer in the trees near us and has us in stitches when he follows the scent of where they have been rather than where they are going. This means that the animals always get away! Rusty is frightened of the dark, water and doesn't like going over the bridge at Cruden Bay. He loves running on the beach but the trees near us are his favourite because of all the smells! He regularly digs in the garden and has on occasion got stuck in places he shouldn't go!

Rusty is much admired for his good looks and Linda at Ebrie lodge often has people commenting on him when our dogs go there on holidays!

I have enclosed a picture of Rusty with our Lab Kira. We love him to bits and although he gets called all sorts of names we couldn't imagine life without him!
Thank you for allowing us to adopt Rusty.
